Emerging Technologies Committee
The Emerging Technologies Committee researches and identifies new and emerging technologies that play an important role in the Connect SoCal Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy and is a resource to the three policy committees.
Framework:
- Identify technological and societal trends (e.g. Mobility as a Service, Zero Emission, Autonomous and Connected Vehicles, and Smart Cities and Intelligent Transportation Systems) that could fundamentally alter the use of the region’s transportation system.
- Frame potential policy considerations to enable the region to harness benefits of emerging technologies that can improve development patterns, vehicle miles traveled, and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Highlight opportunities for under-represented and disadvantaged communities to use emerging technologies.
- Explore technologies that, while in an early stage of development, remain relevant to the future of the region’s transportation system.
